Are you one of the social networking member? I'm pretty sure that most of people out there have at least one account for Facebook, Friendster, MySpace or even any Instant Message account. Those things are much enjoyable while you can make friends anywhere all over the world. Communicating with people around the world is no more troublesome when social network has existed. While having fun connecting with people, you should have know that you actually can destroy your privacy too. Therefore, we should 'play the game' wisely. Simple steps to enjoy social networking and no destroy your privacy to be shared here:
- Beware of pretender and be vigilant. Potential exploiters can pretend to be someone else with a different background and convince you to add them as your friend.
- Never share or post your personal information such as hand phone number, home or work address in your profile. Exploiters use these files to search for victims.
- Be careful when posting text and image as it can be copied out by potential exploiters. Think before posting your photos as exploiters can use it to blackmail or threaten you. Personal photos should not have revealing information such as you location.
- Add people as friends to your site only if you know them in person.Do not meet someone whom you have 'first met' on a social networking site.
- Do not respond to harassing or threatening comments posted on your profile.
- Never share your password.
